Project Mercury is a program that was originally designed for the USAF and now includes participants from all over the globe. It's mission is to promote an innovation culture, teach skills in areas such as innovation and change management, and strengthen the "Innovation Eco System" within defense and government agencies. Project Mercury firmly believes that everyone can be an innovator, no matter their rank or position.
From the nearly 1000 graduates of this 3-month program, eight participants from Germany have completed the program. As of May 2025, three alumni have qualified as "Project Mercury Coaches." In 2024, Project Mercury was adapted by the NATO Innovation Hub to enhance adaptive and innovative practices throughout the NATO assigned personnel. Members from NATO member states have now participated in numerous Project Mercury cohorts and workshops.
In this NEW program, Project Mercury @ Germany will open up this established and scientifically grounded concept to German soldiers, civil servants, and public service employees, and to test it as a pilot program across agencies. We hope you will be part of this inaugural cohort!

Ziel ist es, eine Innovationskultur zu fördern, Kompetenzen in Bereichen wie Innovation und Change Management zu vermitteln und das Innovations-Ökosystem in Verteidigungs- und Regierungsbehörden zu stärken. Project Mercury ist davon überzeugt, dass jeder ein Innovator sein kann, unabhängig von Rang oder Position.
Von den fast 1.000 Absolventen dieses dreimonatigen Programms haben acht Teilnehmer aus Deutschland das Programm abgeschlossen. In diesem NEUEN Programm wird Project Mercury @ Germany dieses etablierte und wissenschaftlich fundierte Konzept deutschen Soldaten, Beamten und Mitarbeitern des öffentlichen Dienstes zugänglich machen und es als Pilotprogramm behördenübergreifend testen. Schedule
This is a hybrid program involving a 3-day in person "Jumpstart," weekly virtual team meetings, and individual work.
The Jumpstart includes accommodation, meals, and event fees. Arrival is scheduled for Sunday, 22.03.26; departure is on Wednesday, 25.03.2026 in the evening or Thursday, 26.03.2026 in the morning.
Following the Jumpstart there are 12 weeks of part time, hybrid work that requires a commitment of approximately 7 hours per week. This work consists of team meetings, individual tasks, and assigned professional journal readings.

Ablauf
Dies ist ein Hybridprogramm mit einem dreitägigen persönlichen „Jumpstart“, wöchentlichen virtuellen Teammeetings und Einzelarbeit.
Das Jumpstart-Programm beinhaltet Unterkunft, Verpflegung und Veranstaltungsgebühren. Die Anreise ist für Sonntag, den 22.03.2026, geplant; die Abreise erfolgt am Mittwoch, den 25.03.2026, abends oder am Donnerstag, den 26.03.2026, morgens.
Im Anschluss an das Jumpstart-Programm folgen 12 Wochen Teilzeit-Hybridarbeit mit einem wöchentlichen Arbeitsaufwand von ca. 7 Stunden. Diese besteht aus Teammeetings, Einzelaufgaben und der Lektüre von Fachzeitschriften.
